My Updated Guide to the Camino Primitivo and the Camino Muxia/Fisterra — Updated February 6, 2018

Hi All,  I have updated the albergue information in my guide based on information available on the internet.  The Confraternity of St. James in the UK is publishing an English language guide for the Primitivo which should be available any time now.  I do not plan to update this guide again as I think the CSJ Guide will be wonderful! I am posting this 2018 update in both word and .pdf.

  1. I have truly enjoyed reading your blog. Thank you! You have inspired me to change my plans from hiking the Portugues to hiking the Primitivo. And your guidebook compilation is terrific. Again, thanks.

How blessed you both are. I can’t wait to go next Spring.

One bugging question: bedbugs? If so, what did you do about them?

    Ultreia!

    • Hi Theitmman, we sprayed the outside of our packs with permethrin. We knew what to look for in albergues and how to get rid of them (high heat, more permethrin). But we did not run into bed bugs when we walked the Frances in 2013, on the Primitivo this past summer or at the Albergue in Rabanal where we were Hospitaleros. We just figured we’d try to be careful and know how to respond but then not worry. They are a somewhat common issue but are far from pervasive.
